The Research
Room
On entering
the Local History Centre at 5 Sherford Street, Bromyard you will be asked to sign the visitors'
book
and will be directed to the
Research Room adjacent to the Archive Store on the
first floor. There is a lift available if required. A member of staff in the
Research Room will be available to discuss how we can best help you.
Microfilms and fiches of censuses,
parish registers, newspapers and other material are available for use upon
application to the staff. Booking is advised for film/fiche readers. When
documents have been located on the computer catalogue,
staff will retrieve them from our purpose built archive.
Staff will be able to give guidance on
the suitability of items for copying which may be restricted due to age,
condition or format. Some charges apply - see
Research Room Charges.
You will be asked to complete a copyright
declaration form. The use of personal digital and other
cameras to photograph images is allowed for which a charge will be made. Internet access together with
much of our census, parish register and newspaper
material which is on either microfilm or microfiche will need the
use of a computer or reader to be able to make use of it. In order to avoid disappointment it is
recommended equipment is booked in advance of
your visit. This can be done by post, telephone or
e-mail. If you are unable to visit in person we offer a
research
service.
